About this event
A craft rave is a craft night and a dance party, all in one.
Come with a project you've been meaning to work on, or show up without a project.
We'll have a Craft Bar packed with materials and projects to try, all included with your ticket. Pull up a chair, make something, meet some people.
And when your song comes on? Get up and dance. DJ Grooveheart will be playing, and you can move between the craft tables and the dance floor whenever you like. There'll be drinks and snacks for sale, too.
It's a party for people who love making things and for anyone who just wants to give it a go.
Come on your own or bring your people. We've got two different sessions, so you can pick your soundtrack or come to both.

Come to the day rave, the night rave, or both. Each session is separately ticketed, so if you want both, grab a ticket for each.
What to expect
Materials and projects to try at the craft tables. Come make something, even if you don't bring a thing.
Disco and Motown for the daytime rave. 90s and Y2K for the night rave. Dance whenever the mood hits.
We'll have a bar and snacks available throughout both sessions.
Knitting, crochet, embroidery, mending, whatever you're working on. Or use what we've got at the Craft Bar.
A little note about the vibe
How it all started
Almost a year ago, we started chatting about FABCYCLE participating in the XOXO Fibre Market. We hadn't met in person yet, but even on our very first phone call, we discovered how much we had in common. Especially how much we both love making things happen, bringing people together, and getting a little too excited about planning events. We just clicked!
Fast forward to the XOXO Fibre Market this October, when we finally got to meet in person. Turns out the connection was just as good in real life! We kept talking about how much we'd love to do something together. We didn't know what, when, or how, but we knew we'd figure something out.
About a week later, we jumped on another call and started throwing ideas around. Ponnie mentioned a craft rave, and it turned out Irina had already been saving craft rave videos and ideas because she loved the whole concept. Plus, we had a great space in the Sun Wah Building! It was one of those moments where everything lined up and we both went, YES! Let's do this!
What got us so excited about the idea was how perfectly it brought together everything we both love. Creativity, community, bringing people together, making things, meeting new friends, and of course, dancing and celebrating!
And just like that, VanCity Craft Rave was happening!
If you joined us for Frocktails earlier this year, you'll recognize the space. This time we're filling it with a DJ, a Craft Bar, music, dancing, and a whole lot of creative people ready to party.
We can't wait to share it with you!
Meet the organizers
Two organizers, two creative communities, one party.
Ponnie is the organizer behind XOXO Fibre, a North Vancouver event for fibre lovers and the people who are curious about fibre. It's built around connection, not just shopping: a marketplace, workshops, community craft lounge, collaborative projects, and room to make new friends. Accessibility, inclusion, and welcoming people from all parts of the fibre world are at the heart of it.
